“UP Michigan” sounds like something you’d yell at someone. Then maybe they’d yell back, “Oh yeah? Well, UP your Vermont!” Or, “I oughta kick you in the Arizona!” But apparently the “UP” means Upper Peninsula, and is a heavily wooded area where they might have some Sasquatch.
For my money, the big guy lives primarily in Washington State, Oregon, Northern-northern California, and British Columbia. The guy who runs the Bigfoot Museum in the Santa Cruz mountains thinks there are some Bigfoot (Bigfeet?) up there, as well. I’m not yet convinced on that front, but I am convinced that Sasquatch is probably real. There is just too much evidence — yes, even physical evidence.
Just in case he’s up there, a team of Bigfoot researchers from the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (the BFRO for those in the know) is headed to upper Michigan to check things out. The safari starts in July and will last about three days. (Is that really long enough?)
If you’re interested in going along, well, sorry; the expedition was already fully booked by the time this United Press International article hit the wires. What the reporter doesn’t seem to realize, though is that the BFRO does an expedition about once per month, sometimes more often. For instance, in July, they’re doing two expeditions, and the second one, in Utah starting on the 19th, isn’t even full yet. Why the UP Michigan trip got all this attention is beyond me. I think Utah has fewer gun-toting militia men, for one thing.
Meanwhile, Bigfoot researchers in the western US region will gather in the hippie enclave called Santa Cruz to hear Dr. Jeff Meldrum, a professor of anthropology and anatomy, present evidence on the existence of the Sasquatch. Meldrum is the author of Sasquatch: the Legend Meets Science, a book I’ll review at later time. You should read it: Meldrum is one of the only serious scientists in the world studying Sasquatch. He has yet to spot one himself, but he says he’s seen fresh tracks on several occasions.
Agent Zero is going to attempt a raid on the Bigfoot Museum tomorrow. I won’t try to get Dr. Meldrum to hand over any of his precious plaster footprint casts (although I promise nothing), but I will get some good photos of the area and the museum, and do some information-gathering for you.
