Despite what the glum-faced skeptics will tell you, there really are conspiracies at work in the world today. Big, fat global conspiracies of guys up to no good. Government conspiracies working to control the world.
HAARP is a good example of that: the acronym stands for High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program.
“Oh,” says the skeptic, “that’s just a massive antenna array in Alaska.” Wait, it’s a what? Why would the US government put a gigantic array of antennas in Alaska? “Oh, well,” our skeptic says, “just so they can inject high-frequency radiation into the ionosphere.”
You can make anything sound harmless. The Watergate conspiracy was just some guys breaking into an office. Nothing, really. Except that the office was used by the Democratic National Committee, and the guys were working for the Republican president.
Why inject radiation into the Earth’s ionosphere? The official HAARP website (yes, there actually is one) says it’s to “further advance our knowledge of the physical and electrical properties of the Earth’s ionosphere which can affect our military and civilian communication and navigation systems”.
That’s government talk that means “we’re screwing around with the atmosphere for vague reasons and so you can just go away now and forget about us.”
The real reason(s)? We don’t know for sure, but a lot of reasonable explanations (some with evidence) have been proposed:
- weather modification (AKA weather warfare)
- mind control
- missile defense
- block satellite communication
- directed-energy weapon
I don’t know what is true and what’s just paranoia. I do know that this is another example of the government running secret programs in plain view without oversight and without a plain explanation.
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not trying to control your weather.

is there a possibility that these towers are not super sensetive spy devices used by the FBI to listen in on our cell phone, or other wireless communications.
