While I can’t in any way give credence to this rumor, I do feel required to report on it. Adventurer and rich guy Steve Fossett disappeared 90 miles south of Reno, NV, USA on September 5th after leaving a private ranch by small aircraft. This man has piloted innumerable aircraft (including, most famously, balloons), so this isn’t the JFK Jr. thing all over again. Perhaps oddly, no flight plan was logged by Fossett. There were no anomalous weather conditions to report.
Aerial searches have revealed nothing. Google Maps-style searches have also uncovered nothing to do with Fossett, although some old, unrelated crash sites were discovered.
Rampant speculation culminated in Miles O’Brien suggesting that Fossett was shot down over Area51 while on-air at CNN. While probably ridiculous, this rumor now has a life of its own and continues to spark wonder across the Internet.
So where the hell is Steve Fossett? Did he fake his own death? Was this really some kind of conspiracy, government or otherwise? Leave us your thoughts. Especially if you’re Steve Fossett.

I figured he was part of an “exchange” program where he was allowed to land at Area 51, got on board a visitor ship and went bye bye. They could either then have his “crash” be found and that would be the end of it, or they could dispose of his aircraft completely and it will never be found.

I think Steve is trying to set some sort of record himself for bing missing in the wild for so long. He has accomplished everything else – it just seems weird that there hasn’t been a lot of coverage over this. What is his wife doing right now?

Steve Fossett’s missing status makes one wonder what really happened. He did not take his cell phone, watch, his ELT did not go off. He did not talk on the radio to Reno Departure, let’s see. none of those fit Mr. Fossett. the president of Virgin Airlines needs to talk to me. I have sent several Letters and I have a special team on standby who will assist in finding out exactly what happened. Oh NORAD could not find him and Reno Departure tapes could not find him too. Let’s look at this again, it was not a normal flight it was a Holiday Flight with no record on record. His normal equipment he usually carries was not with him. Is he at Creech AFB?, or was he disposed of for some reason. If anyone can find The President of Virgin Airlines please write me at RENOFLAMES41@aol.com. I have the best investigators the World has to offer and we already have an idea which is plausable without any Conspiracy Theory. Like radio Shack you got questions we may have the answers.
Good Luck in your searches and your area 51 theory because it is not true. He is not on an alien spacecraft and not on vacation in the Bahammas.

This great adventurer was on the greatest adventure of his life. Gone missing over the desert with not the slightest trace. Now taken a new identity and beginning the second phase of his life. Extraordinary but true! Good luck Steve and god bless.

He”s been shot down over Area 51 and those Bastards know more that you think they do. Top Secret Military Base out in the middle of nowhere. Go to U Tube and type in ” Philip Schneider” You”ll be surprised on what he has to say.

ots a bit sad to be talking about this while I am in vegas and way some of this stuff people are aging is so interesting he’s been gone for a year and no one and imean no one has found him you have to be kidding. They found sixor so “other” crash sites and not his. Something isnot right some one is gonna come upwith a answer soon I hope

I used to keep my small plane at Minden Nv. That is very close to where Steve took off. Flying over the high sierras in a small single engine plane is very spooky. There are thousands of places he could have nosed in in a canyon only accessible by mountain goats.

we all know what really happened to steve fosset, he was shot down by the security of area 51. The only reason im saying this is because my uncle worked for the secret service, and he has access to all satelite imaging, including the top secret satelite( the wycleaf) that only high ranked servicemen who have worked for the secret service for more than 25 years can observe. He made a copy of the video that the satelite took of when the plane was shot down, sent it to me, and then was caught and is looking at the death penalty. They still don’t know i have it. In a few months i will be posting that video all over the web to major websites including youtube.com, google.com, myspace.com etc….

Creech AFB is a strange place indeed , I drove by there (just north)one nite late and saw some strange thing going on ,some very bright lights were being projecting against a slow moving object in the sky. A very intense green beam was turned on and I say debris fall out of the sky. Then I heard a crackling sound and saw lights from the desert floor come on in a patern . I waited almost 2 hours but didnt see anthing else. On the return trip on a sunday I stopped on the west side of the highway to take a break , at 600 pm loudspeakers started blaring out muslim prayer chants and people came out of trailers and layed down rugs in the dirt and started bow to the east . I asked some solders at a convience store about it and they said they never heard the loudspeakers or knew anything about the people in the trailers . Steve Fossett , Amelia Airheart who knows but the desert north of Las Vegas a lot goes on I saw a hundred drill rigs between creech and mercury drilling my guess is to moniter the ground water which may be hot with radiation from the NTS bomb detonations of the 50s,60s,70s

Wow! John Browning is the only one to come the closest to the answer! Why is it that NO ONE pieces together the forensic clues like a CSI would do. How is it that all of you wackos totally missed the HAWTHORNE ARMORY scenario???!!! No flight plan posted and accidently violating high-security military airspace equals what? A huge OOPS moment in time! Now that the Armory Commander has egg on his face he decides to do ultimate damage control with a fake mountain face crash and documents sprewn all over Mammoth Lakes – but no human remains AT ALL!
